🌱 Early-Summer Care for the Black Pine — Mizuma's Craft and Spirit 🌿

At Mizuma's Black Pine, we tend our trees with care twice a year — in winter (November to December) and early summer (June to mid-July). 🌲

Early summer is the season for bud pinching and grooming. Careful bud pinching tightens the buds and guides each tree toward the calm, settled form that Mizuma is known for. 🌱

Here in Mizuma, we have long valued a style of branch-making that gently lets the branches droop, aiming for the dignified air of an old, venerable tree. It is a delicate technique for drawing out natural beauty. 🍃

Every black pine has a character of its own. Some grow more beautifully than we ever expected; others do not go quite as we had hoped.

That is exactly why we watch over each tree day by day, working things out as we go, and raising every one with heart.

What we rely on is the branch-tip technique handed down from those before us. Feeling the delicate touch as we move a branch, and the small signs the tree gives, we picture the form it will take in the years ahead. 🌿
